Celebrating the Heart of Our City

The Place Where Our Stories Become One

Ottawa is more than Canada's capital.
It is a place where people from every culture, generation, background, and walk of life come together to build something bigger than themselves.
For some, Ottawa is the city their family has called home for generations. For others, it is the place where they arrived carrying little more than hope, courage, and a dream. Together, it is where friendships become family, where businesses and ideas take root, where children grow, and where communities come together to support one another through life's most meaningful moments.

That is what HOME means.

The 2026 Ottawa Day theme celebrates the people, places, organizations, and communities that make Ottawa feel like home.

From the immigrant who just arrived, to families who have been here for generations, to the Indigenous communities whose land we are honoured to live on, Ottawa Day is a celebration of our shared humanity and our shared responsibility to care for one another.
Because when we look beyond our differences, we discover something powerful:
We all want to belong.
And together, our stories become the heart of our city.

One City. One People. One Shared Responsibility to Care for One Another.

Home

A reminder that for one day, we choose to see one another simply as people—not through division, status, ideology, or difference, but through our shared humanity. A city where every culture, every story, every generation, and every background become part of one larger heartbeat.

One city. One people. One shared responsibility.
